Dad’s handwritten notes listing family information for his grandfather, father, and several of his aunts and uncles.
Next is Dad’s list of the six graves in his father’s family plot (below). What looks like “Lena” is actually ‘Sena’ (1874-1912), his father’s first wife.
William Henderson (1904-1934), who is buried in the O’Donnell family plot, was the son of Dad’s aunt, Elizabeth O’Donnell Henderson, and consequently Dad’s cousin. In the 1920 census he is listed as a nephew living in James Sr.’sĀ household, but there’s a discrepancy about his age. In the census he’s listed as being 10, so born approximately 1910, but his gravestone says born in 1904.
According to Dad’s notes he had two sisters, Alice Henderson Kraft and Irene Henderson Snyder. If one were to hazard a guess, William died young and unmarried and is buried with the members of the extended family who raised him and thought of him as a son.
The two genealogical charts trace seven generations of the O’Donnell family. The first is arranged in conventional format, the second in an easier-to-read fan chart. Because the connection was important to Dad, the charts also list his uncle Edward’s family, which included Dad’s cousin, Fr. Edward O’Donnell.
