Fifth child, second daughter, and only surviving daughter of James J. O’Donnell Sr. and Margaret McIntyre O’Donnell. In 1950 Marion was living with her father and working 16 hours a week as an assembler at a metal products manufacturing company. That same year, Donald Eldredge, her future husband, was working at a heavy machine shop as a coremaker. If they were at the same company they could have met there, but that’s just a wild guess.
Marion and Donald James Eldredge (1928-2002) married abt. 1950.
They had four children:
Donald J. Jr.
b. 1956, graduated from Pius XI High School in 1974 (picture below), and married Sherie Lynn Hattle in 1987
Margaret
b. 1961, graduated from Pius XI, graduated from UWM in Civil Engineering (1985). Married Paul E. Liedtke in 1983. Works for Wisconsin Department of Transportation as Mega Project Utility Coordinating Engineer
Mary
graduated from Pius XI High School, became a mathematics teacher at Pius (picture also below), including a term as head of the Mathematics Department.
James W.
b. 1968, graduated from Marquette University High School in 1986 (pictures below). Married Jill Ann Rosenberg in 1997.
Don Sr. was the second youngest of ten children born to William Israel and Anna S. Eldredge, so he was well prepared not to be disturbed by the confusion and din created by his many O’Donnell nieces and nephews. He attended West Division High School as a freshman in 1944 (a nice picture below). He registered for the draft in 1946 (also below), and served in the US Army from 1950 to 1952. Before he went he worked at Allis Chalmers, and when he returned to civilian life he also returned to Allis Chalmers. In fact, he spent most of his career at Allis Chalmers.
